Who Are We?

We are a band of merry men, women and young people who enjoy and promote the sport of archery in several of its traditional forms, especially field archery, clout and roving mark shooting and target archery for beginners.

The club allows the use of traditional equipment: e.g. English longbows, recurve bows, American flatbows, Mongolian, Hunter, primitive bows and wooden arrows with feather fletchings.

The club is situated in Colyton, East Devon at The Peace Memorial Playing Fields. We have use of all the facilities including toilets, car parking and clubhouse.

History

Originally based in Ottery St Mary, the successful launch of Grandisson Archers in June 2007 was due to the tremendous local support received. Grants were gained from a number of sources and used to get us off the ground.

John Brice, who is an experienced archer and facilitator, canvassed opinion in Ottery St Mary for an archery club and got a fantastic response. After a couple of meetings and people offering their support membership has grown. The club has even sent representatives to other competitions and events in the South West

We are affiliated with the National Field Archery Society ( NFAS click to open link in a new window). Our membership consists of juniors and seniors aged from 11 years old.

The membership with the NFAS covers insurance requirements and therefore is mandatory for shooting members.
